Bumpy Road

I took this photo in Nepal some years ago. Probably from a car or pedi cab – it’s a perfect depiction of a bumpy road.

Any of these holes can flatten a tire, make a trip longer, encourage an asking for help. It’s like that now for our family. Lots of things going on. Lots of roads to travel and feelings to carry, many intersections, many destinations.

┬áToday we hold our hearts in respect for higher goals – do we see them? Maybe not. Do we feel them. A little. Like so many things, our highest goals, deepest dreams, fiercest contrasts are there with us whether we know them or not.

May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness;
May all be free from sorrow and the causes of sorrow;
May all never be separated from the sacred happiness which is sorrowless;
And may all live in equanimity, without too much attachment and too much aversion,
And live believing in the equality of all that lives.
